Perfect location and lovely place in a beautiful village. Had everything you could need for a couples weekend.

Pros: The property is situated in an ideal location, in lovely village. Short taxi rides to other areas too. Perfect stay for a long weekend or base for a wedding to attend etc.

Straight out of a country living magazine

Pros: The attention to detail, the style of every single item… It’s like a little boutique hotel suite and an elegant bear’s den at the same time. Felt like a treat for a wedding anniversary (although our anniversary isn’t until August 😅) I wish more accommodation would put that much love into designing the space that they offer. The hosts live next door and are absolutely delightful but definitely give you your space. As well the village is so cute… exceptional was the walk down to the windmill and the little coffee pop up there… And the little home store down the road, vintage style living… A perfect place to stay, if you want to visit Cambridge (perfect with park and ride) or just the picturesque villages and countryside in the area… Thank you very much for a unforgettable wee weekend

Cons: Ooooonly thing that would bother someone who needs absolute tranquility is the main road outside the bedroom window. Yes, it’s only a little village, but it’s quite a few cars driving through (however during the night it’s definitely calmer).

Comfortable and clean.

Pros: The cottage is in a lovely village opposite a beautiful church. Parking is easy and the instructions for access were very clear and helpful. Inside, the decoration and furnishings are very tasteful and elegant and everything is sparkling clean. Everything we needed was there and the rooms were warm and comfortable. We loved our time here and would love to stay again to explore this area further.

Pros: Everything had been thought about if you were staying there as a couple or small family.

Cons: The church bells going off for an hour haha. But our baby slept so it was all good

Beautiful, quaint cottage

Pros: Beautiful & comfortable cottage. Very tastefully decorated with all the comforts of home. Very clean and well looked after. Great location, very friendly locals and a lovely pub a few feet away. Would highly recommend 👌

Cons: Literally the only reason we didn't give 10 out of 10 is the lack of outside space to sit out in. The weather was gorgeous when we visited and it would have been nice to sit out in the evening, or have morning coffee outside.

Midweek stay in Thaxted

Pros: We both loved our stay at Gate Cottage. Accomodation provided everything we were seeking. Location in town was as good as it gets and the views of the church from top floor window were superb. Host was there on arrival and proved very helpful. We were very pleased to have discovered this wonderful little cottage, we'll be hoping to get a chance to rebook soon.

Cons: Using the stairs needs to be respected, but all part of the character of building.
