Escape

We booked Escape as a late booking and were pleasantly surprised at what we got for our money.

Pros: Well thought out accommodation with everything anyone would need for a stay. Well stocked kitchen with a very good welcome basket. Lots of DVDs, books and games. Private garden area. Use of portable beach chairs. Good private car parking. All excellent. Although Escape is a good 10 minute walk to the start of the High Street or beach it is located in a quiet small estate and we felt very safe during our stay. Aldeburgh is an excellent base from which to explore this part of Suffolk.

Cons: Description doesn’t mention that the accommodation is on the first and second floor of the building and that the bathroom and toilet are on the first floor but the bedroom is on the second floor. This could be significant to older or less able guests. Floor boards and stairs within the property are VERY creaky which must bother the flat on the ground floor and also makes getting up in the night very noisy and disturbing. Although the bed is very comfortable we found we could feel every movement from our other half. This may not be a problem to some people.

Pros: Excellent value although further out of town than we thought. Welcome pack was a lovely addition. Could not find any faults.All the fixtures and fittings were lovely. Having a Tesco and Coop within walking distance was a bonus.Bed was very comfortable and we slept well

Cons: The number 18 was hidden by shrubs and therefore difficult to find. The documents sent for our arrival said the owner is asked to supply wood for your first fire and there are outlets nearby to obtain further supplies. We could have purchased supplies on our way only to find that the heating is in fact gas. These documents need amending.
