Lackford Lakes Barns

Super location for a peaceful break

Pros: The location is sensational with the nature reserve easily accessible for lovely walks and getting in touch with nature. Curlew Cottage is super cosy and warm, we had to turn the heating down when we arrived! There are 2 toilets which is very convenient for 4 people and there are plenty of cutlery, plates and cooking facilities to make your own meals. The decor is homely and well-chosen. It is a very quiet place in general.

Cons: It would be even better if there was a chopping board, a tiny bit of washing up liquid and more than 2 toilet rolls for 4 people over 3 days. There are enough mugs for everyone, but they are not in keeping with the cost cottage (Sports Direct for example). The extractor in the family bathroom is loud and woke us up every time somebody visited the loo. There are much quieter ones available now and it would put me off staying here again if this wasn't upgraded in 2026.

A lovely place to stay with easy access to the Lakes. Plenty of good walks beside the Lakes.

Pros: Great location to be so near the Lakes. Comfortable furnishings. Good underfloor heating.

Cons: Modern Stove a bit complicated. Wall instructions? A few more mugs perhaps?

Pros: A familiar choice for us as we frequently stay in this barn conversion, and enjoy visiting Lackford Lakes, the adjoining Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve.

Cons: The hard water, and resulting softening process.

Pros: The property was spacious and finished to a high standard. There was plenty of parking and enough cutlery, plates etc for the number of visitors (sometimes places advertise they sleep so may people but only have enough seating and utensils for half that number) instructions received to find and access the property were clear and timely. It was a really lovely space to spend time in and had all the basics you’d need including kindly leaving milk for tea and coffee and some biscuits. It was warm and cosy.

Cons: Nothing.

Very relaxing and enjoyable autumn holiday.

Pros: Surprised by the four poster bed but very comfortable. Location is excellent, near the lakes, nice and quiet, plenty of places to eat within a short drive, close to Bury and lots of NT properties to visit.

Cons: Can't criticise too much but recommend that all owners should stay in their property for a few days and then review what they have provided for clients to use based on their own experience. I'm particularly thinking kitchen and bathroom in this case.

We have returned home refreshed and relaxed.

Pros: The peace and quiet of the setting. The size of the rooms. The style and design of the buildings, landscaping and furniture. The location - we have family in a neighbouring village.

Cons: That we could only stay two nights.

Our next visit is in the calendar.

Pros: This was our second stay at Lackford Lakes and our third is already booked. It is very convenient for us to visit family in a nearby village. We love bird spotting around the lakes and the tranquil location. The barns have been restored to a very high standard. The garden dining areas have been cleverly designed to allow for complete privacy.

Pros: Great location, close to two large towns, perfect for business trip or a holiday away. Staff is excellent, facilities are perfect.

Family stay with everyone happy :)

Pros: Beautiful buildings, in a beautiful setting. Clean and cozy. Lovely nature reserve just up the road.
