Loved the stay - made to feel welcome
Pros: A lovely quirky building. Cold damp night and cheerful fire in dining area very welcome. Spacious uncluttered bedroom, with neat bathroom and excellent shower, overlooked the quiet high street. Food - Dinner and Breakfast - excellent.

Pros: After a nightmare motorway journey, Manager Emily scooped us up into warmth and comfort, bags taken to our room and a cosy table prepared by the fire. The advantages of the hotrl are many starting with its central location. Rooms are comfy and warm with crisp sheets and fluffy towels. Large dining and bar areas offer attractive seating, breakfast and dinner menus are varied and interesting, meals beautifully cooked AND served on hot plates (hallelujah!) However, the main advantage is the high level of service and care shown by ALL the staff we met. Congratulations to The Marlborough, well done!
Cons: If there's a hitch anywhere, it'll probably be caused by the smallish, crowded car park. Hotel staff can help you find a solution if needed. Finally, be prepared to shower in one of the smallest micro-bathrooms I've come across. Don't fret too much, it's a very small price to pay for staying at such an enjoyable hotel.

Pros: The staff gave us a very warm reception and were extremely helpful. There was a lovely area with seating by an open fire and tasteful Christmas decorations. Our room was very comfortable. Easy parking with private car park.
Cons: I can't think of anything!

A lovely place to stay, well situated for walks and visiting Flatford Mill. We would stay there again.
Pros: Lovely atmosphere, delicious evening meal and nice friendly staff.
Cons: Stairs up to the bedrooms might be a problem for some people as they were very steep. But itβs an old property so itβs to be expected.

Loved it and would stay again.
Pros: The food was excellent as was the real ale. Proper full English, set me up for the day ahead.
Cons: Lighting in the room was ok but a large room could have done with a bit more brightness.

Three night break
Pros: The Inn is a very characterful historic building situated in the centre of the village, which was very convenient, having reserved parking for hotel guests. Great place to stay as it's only a 40 minute walk from the Inn and along the Stour Valley Path to Flatford Mill. We arrived for Sunday lunch which was superb. One of the best we have ever tasted. In fact, the food throughout our stay was very good, especially the cooked breakfasts which were included in the price. Our room was characterful, nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. The shower in our en-suite shower room was powerful and larger than expected. Having home made cookies in our room, replenished each day, was a nice touch.
Cons: Being an old building, the stairs leading up to the rooms were quite steep. Not too much of a problem for us but something to be aware of.
